Roots: growing deeper in your relationship with God.
Roots: Growing deeper in Your relationship with God.
Roots have a big job. One of their jobs is to anchor the tree in the soil, so when strong winds come, it will remain standing. Another job the roots have is to absorb water and nutrients from the soil, to remain strong. So a tree can't be strong without roots.
So, how deep are your Roots? Do they go down deep, or do they only on down a few feet? Did you know that the size of your root, will determine how big your tree is, and the size of your tree will determine how much fruit you produce!
So today we will be looking at what makes strong roots!
1. PRAYER
If we want to grow deeper in God, we have to talk to him like a friend. When you talk to your friend, it's not a one sided conversation, where you ask them for things, is it? No, and if it is it will not last long. Prayer is not supposed to be like a cheap fast food chain where you get it your way. Prayer should be like when we talk with our friends, we have deep meaningful talks, we ask questions to get to know them. We may even vent to are friends, and ask what to do.
So what does your talks with God look like? Is it have it a list of wants, or is it talking with a friend?
2. Read your Bible
To grow deeper in God, we have to learn who he is, what he stands for, and what he did when he was on earth. Can you have a deep friendship with someone you know nothing about? No. The same thing applies with our relationship with God, we have to get to know him, and what better way then to read his word.
If you don't know where to start, I suggest start with Matthew. Learn about God's life when he was on earth, and what he did while he was here. I promise you will not regret it!
3. Become an everyday vessel
Ask God to use you today! Ask God to show you someone at the coffee shop you can buy coffee for. Leave a Big tip (I one time left a $20 dollar tip for my waiter, and he chased me down in the restaurant, and he was speechless. I was able to plant a seed in his life). When we ask God to use us everyday he is going to show up.
