WHAT DOES LIVING A CHRISTIAN LIFE MEAN AND HOW DO WE DO IT

As I was looking for topics to blog about, I saw so many questions about living a Christian life, what it means, why should one do it and how do we do it. It kinda took me by surprise. It also hurt my heart to know how many people I and the Body of Christ have failed in teaching and walking this out with. I want to start off by saying I am truly sorry!

WHAT DOES LIVING A CHRISTIAN LIFE MEAN?

So to answer this question, let us start by defining what a Christian life means, we need to set a foundation for what we want this to look.

What is the most important job that Christians are tasked with? Is it to love your enemy, to take care of the widow and orphans or even to share who Christ? Dare I say it…  I believe it is none of these. Now before you leave, let me tell you why.

BEAR FRUIT

In John 15:16  it says”…I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide…". We are commanded to bear fruit. If we bare fruit, we will naturally produce all these other things. If we bear fruit, we will love our enemy, because we are producing love. We will take care of the widow and orphans because we produce kindness. We will share Who Christ is because we will be producing what no one else has.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Why is it important?  Matthew 7:17-20 Says “every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits".

WE WILL BE RECOGNIZE BY OUR FRUIT

We as humans have a tendency of social categorizing.

Allydog.com defines Social Categorization as "the process of classifying people into groups based on similar characteristics, whether it be nationality, age, occupation, diagnosis, or some other trait. it provides a mental shortcut in that it allows us to infer properties about a person based on the properties of others in the same category (although our inferences may not always be correct).”

This is what Jesus was talking about! When people see the fruit we bear (our actions), they will know what we are!

HOW DO WE DO IT?

How do we bear good fruit? John 15:6 says "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

ABIDE IN ME

We must abide in God. Abide can be defined as a state of living or dwelling. We must live/dwell in who God is, and in his presences.

  1. Good morning, brother. I agree with you re: abiding in the vine and bearing fruit. Can you keep adding to this topic please? You mentioned the fruit. What kind of fruit? Is it a physical fruit? Is it something different? The analogy isn't completely fleshed out. You've only given your audience a taste of the fruit. Please keep going. May God bless you now and always to shine the Light of His Love through sharing His Free Gift of Forgiveness. Your brother in Christ, Paul
